Port Charlotte is a family-centered community where people look out for each other. The assisted living facilities in Port Charlotte do their best to provide premium level service, but that does not take away from the fact that those residents have rights. Before you transfer to an assisted living facility, you and your family should be familiar with the rights you will have when it comes to the service you are receiving.

Every Port Charlotte assisted living facility resident has the right to freedom of religion and their civil liberties. They have the right to be treated with respect and dignity, and they have the right to file a formal complaint without the fear of retribution. Residents have a right to request a written set of rules for the assisted living center, the right to retain and utilize their own possessions, and the right to choose what physician and pharmacy they will use.

Rights Specific to Care

Residents have the right to get a copy of the facility’s bed hold policy, and they have the right to be informed of any changes in their bed assignments in advance of being moved. There will be no instances of emotional, psychological, or physical abuse, and residents have the right to live without fear of unusually cruel or harsh punishments. Every resident in Port Charlotte assisted living facilities also retains the right to refuse taking medication and to be told the consequences of not taking their medication.
